SRHR Media Manual Production – Consultant
1. Background:
As part of an ongoing partnership between Oxfam and Juzoor for Health and Social Development, the "Masarouna" project aims to enhance the capacity of journalism students in addressing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) issues. This initiative seeks to empower students with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively cover SRHR topics and promote informed discussions within their communities. Juzoor is therefore seeking the services of a qualified consultant/company to develop a comprehensive training manual tailored for journalism students at the Birzeit University, focusing on the SRHR of young people.
2. Rationale:
The increasing relevance of SRHR issues in today's society underscores the need for well-trained journalists who can address these topics sensitively and knowledgeably. By equipping journalism students with specialized training on SRHR, Juzoor seeks to improve the quality of media coverage, foster a more informed public discourse, and contribute to better SRHR outcomes for young people. This training manual will serve as a crucial tool in achieving these goals, ensuring that students are well-prepared to handle SRHR issues with accuracy and empathy.
3. Scope of Work:
The contracted party will undertake the following tasks:
- Curriculum and Training Manual Development:
- Create a comprehensive and user-friendly manual on "SRHR in Media" that serves both as a curriculum for Media students (pre-service training), and as an on-the-job training guide for graduated journalists (in-service training). The manual should be structured to align with the media department syllabus, equipping students and journalists with the knowledge and skills necessary to advocate for SRHR and raise public awareness on sexual and reproductive rights for adolescents and youth through media platforms. It should include comprehensive content on SRHR topics relevant to young people, incorporating key concepts, case studies, and practical examples. All work and material and manuals produced under this contract are copyrighted and the property of Juzoor for Health and Social Development.

- Pilot and Brainstorming Session:
- Conduct a pilot session to test the training manual and gather feedback from a selected group of students and faculty.
- Facilitate a brainstorming session to refine the manual based on feedback and recommendations.
- Training of Trainers (TOT):
- Organize and conduct a 3-day Training of Trainers (TOT) for media trainers/lecturers, etc., at Birzeit University, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to effectively deliver the training manual content.
- Student Training:
- Conduct a 2-day training workshop for journalism students at Birzeit University, utilizing the developed manual to enhance their understanding and reporting of SRHR issues.

4. Experience Required:
Demonstrated expertise in the development of educational materials and training programs related to SRHR or journalism, with a minimum of three years of relevant experience.
- Proven track record of successful project delivery, supported by reference letters, and reports.
5. Working Code and Methodology:
- Commitment to Juzoor’s code of conduct and rules and regulations at all times.
- Promote the development of relationships with the partner organizations based on a concept of partnerships founded on shared values, mutual respect, reciprocity of learning and transparency.
- Maintain close and continuous relations with the target population and its grassroots organizations, and provisions to listen to their expectations
- The contract holder acknowledges that they have read and agree to abide by Juzoor’s policies and manuals, including but not limited to the following:
- Juzoor Child Protection Policy.
- Anti-Fraud, Bribery, Corruption Policy General Protection Policy.
- Juzoor Gender Equality Policy.
- Juzoor Sexual Harassment Policy.
- Safeguarding Policy.
- WHISTLEBLOWING POLICY.
- IT & Data Policy.
- Code of Conduct Policy.
- HR, Management, Procurement and Financial Manuals.
- The contract holder acknowledges that all information is confidential to Juzoor such as documents, manuals, designs, applications of all sorts, agree that these documents are the sole custody of Juzoor and should not be used outside Juzoor organization unless it is cleared by Juzoor management and the board of directors, as stipulated in Juzoor’s IT & Data Policy.
- The contract holder understands and agrees to fulfil tasks related to her/his TOR, and for the benefit of Juzoor’s activities, as requested by her/his immediate supervisor.
- The contract holder understands and agrees to read, comply and participate in any orientation held by Juzoor related to HR and Juzoor policies
6. Post Requirements and Skills:
- Ability to deliver creative content (text, image and video) in Arabic and English.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Multitasking and analytical skills.
- BS degree in Marketing, Journalism, New media or relevant field.
7. Level of Responsibility:
- Carries out assignments independently.
- Expected to find solutions to problems after discussion with supervisor.
- Direct Supervisor: Juzoor’s Assigned Project Manager
8. Contract Duration:
- The consultancy period will extend from September 2024 to October 2024.
