Campaign Title: “shofoo bi oyouni” (See Through My Eyes) "شوفوا بعيوني"
- Background:
The Moving Minds Alliance (MMA) is launching a campaign to coincide with the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. This campaign aims to amplify the voices of children affected by the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the Middle East, showcase local-led solutions, and intensify the urgency for action.
- Campaign Focus
- Humanising Resilience: Rather than focusing solely on the horrors of war, the MMA aims to highlight the resilience and aspirations of Palestinian children. The campaign will showcase their dreams, ambitions, and right to a childhood filled with play, learning, and hope.
- Universal Childhood: MMA seeks to emphasise that children in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt) share the same desires as children worldwide – to play, learn, and dream. This approach aims to foster empathy and connection across borders.
- Fund/Scale Local Solutions: Highlight and encourage support for community-led initiatives that protect and nurture children in crisis.
- Call for increased diplomatic efforts to address the root causes of the conflict and protect children's futures.
- Consultancy Objective:
To produce compelling editorial content that supports the Moving Minds Alliance campaign focusing on children affected by the humanitarian crisis in the Middle East, with emphasis on resilience, universal childhood experiences, and local-led solutions.

- Key Responsibilities:
Juzoor is seeking the services of a professional seasoned journalist to support in in the implementation of the required deliverables mentioned below.
The contracted consultant/journalist will be responsible to:
- Conduct research on the current situation of children in the Occupied Palestinian Territories
- Interview key stakeholders, including MMA representative, local partners, and if possible, children and families (with appropriate safeguarding measures)
- Craft narratives that balance the gravity of the situation with messages of hope and resilience
- Collaborate with the MMA team to ensure alignment with campaign objectives and messaging
- Provide cultural and linguistic expertise during the translation process
- Working Code and Methodology:
- Commitment to Juzoor’s code of conduct and rules and regulations at all times.
- Promote the development of relationships with the partner organizations based on a concept of partnerships founded on shared values, mutual respect, reciprocity of learning and transparency.
- Maintain close and continuous relations with the target population and its grassroots organizations, and provisions to listen to their expectations
- The consultant/journalist acknowledges that they have read and agree to abide by Juzoor’s policies and manuals, including but not limited to the following:
- Juzoor Child Protection Policy.
- Anti-Fraud, Bribery, Corruption Policy General Protection Policy.
- Juzoor Gender Equality Policy.
- Juzoor Sexual Harassment Policy.
- Safeguarding Policy.
- WHISTLEBLOWING POLICY.
- IT & Data Policy.
- Code of Conduct Policy.
- HR, Management, Procurement and Financial Manuals.
- The consultant/journalist acknowledges that all information is confidential to Juzoor such as documents, manuals, designs, applications of all sorts, agree that these documents are the sole custody of Juzoor and should not be used outside Juzoor organization unless it is cleared by Juzoor management and the board of directors, as stipulated in Juzoor’s IT & Data Policy.
- The consultant/journalist holder has read, understood, and signed off to her/his Terms of Reference (ToR), as attached.
- The consultant/journalist understands and agrees to fulfil tasks related to her/his TOR, and for the benefit of Juzoor’s activities, as requested by her/his immediate supervisor.
- The position holder understands and agrees to read, comply and participate in any orientation held by Juzoor related to HR and Juzoor policies.
- The consultant/journalist also commits to follow Juzoor’s Communication guidelines and guidance, especially with the protection and securing of individuals contacted/interviewed and ensuring the required consent forms are fully filled and signed prior to engagement with any targeted individual under this consultancy exercise.
- Deliverables:
1. Pre-Campaign Editorial (1200 words or more).
- Introduce the campaign's context and objectives.
- Highlight the importance of focusing on children's resilience and aspirations.
- Publish editorial piece in a recognised mainstream media platform.
- Share editorial and campaign content in journalist and humanitarian circles.
2. Post-Campaign Editorial (1500 words or more).
- Summarize campaign impact and key outcomes.
- Analyze public response and engagement.
- Discuss next steps and long-term implications.
- Publish story in a recognised mainstream media platform.
- Share editorial piece in journalist and humanitarian circles.
3. Translation and Storyboarding Support
- Assist in translating 5 short stories (approximately 300-500 words each) from Arabic to English, ensuring cultural sensitivity and accuracy.
- Support script and storyboard development for 5 thematic stories for the campaign.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research on the current situation of children in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
- Interview key stakeholders, including MMA representative, local partners, and if possible, children and families (with appropriate safeguarding measures).
- Craft narratives that balance the gravity of the situation with messages of hope and resilience.
- Collaborate with the MMA team to ensure alignment with campaign objectives and messaging.
- Provide cultural and linguistic expertise during the translation process.
- Qualifications:
- Proven experience in journalism, with a focus on human rights and children's issues.
- Strong understanding of the Middle East context, particularly the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
- Excellent writing skills in English, with the ability to create engaging and emotive content.
- Fluency in Arabic for translation support.
- Experience working with international organizations and navigating sensitive topics.
- Commitment to ethical reporting and child protection principles

- Good computer skills.
- Able to prioritise complex and competing schedules and workload.
- Timeline
- The timeline for this consultancy is from 01 November to 30 November 2024.
- This consultancy working days are expected not to exceed a maximum of 10 days.
- Pre-campaign editorial: Due 1 week before campaign launch published by November 15, share link to editorial with MMA.
- Story translations: Completed within 48 hrs. of receiving source material
- Post-campaign editorial: Due 1 week after campaign conclusion published by November 30th or as agreed with MMA Communications Manager.
- Reporting
- The campaign journalist will work closely with MMA core team and report to the MMA Communications Manager
