Partners: |
This project is implemented in partnership with CARE Palestine, and funded by Enabel |
Location: |
West Bank and East Jerusalem |
Duration: |
18 Months (1 February 2025 – 31 August 2026) |
- General Background
Youth in Palestine face numerous challenges that significantly impact their mental health and well-being. In response to the pressing need for accessible mental health support, Juzoor, in partnership with Inuka and the Netherlands' KIT, has developed a digital counseling platform based on the scientifically validated Inuka method.
The Inuka platform provides psychological support to individuals in Gaza and the West Bank through an accessible, confidential, and stigma-free digital medium. This initiative addresses the shortage of mental health services while mitigating the socio-political challenges contributing to trauma, depression, anxiety, and PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) in the region.
- Project Background
Juzoor for Health and Social Development is a Palestinian non-governmental organization working at the national level, dedicated to improving the health and well-being of Palestinian families and promoting health as a basic human right.
Juzoor was founded in 1996 by a team of health and development professionals. The organization was named Juzoor (“roots” in Arabic) to reflect the organization’s focus on the underlying socioeconomic determinants of health and wellness, to reinforce the commitment that Juzoor has made to continuing its work in Palestinian communities despite the difficult and challenging political situation, and to reflect the founders’ experience in their related fields and in establishing some of the most important grassroots health organizations in Palestine.
Juzoor tackles critical emerging public health issues, connecting prevention and intervention for the individual to the level of the whole population by addressing the social determinants of health.
In partnership with CARE Palestine and with funding from Enabel, Juzoor is implementing the project “Mental Health Matters: Providing Accessible Support to Vulnerable Youth in Palestine.” This initiative aims to protect vulnerable boys, girls, young women, and men, along with their caregivers, by improving access to essential mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) services.
The project employs a comprehensive, evidence-based approach to ensure that MHPSS (Mental Health and Psychosocial Support) services are of high quality, tailored to the unique needs of diverse populations, and impactful in fostering healthier, more stable communities. Additionally, it emphasizes empowering youth by involving them in decision-making on matters affecting their lives and communities.
