Journalism Friendly Manual Launching Event

Juzoor for Health and Social Development, in partnership with the Media Development Center – Birzeit University and with the support of Oxfam, launched the manual “Journalism Friendly: Professional Approaches to Sexual and Reproductive Health Issues.”

The launch took place at the Media Development Center – Birzeit University, under the patronage and participation of H.E. Minister of Women’s Affairs, Mona Khalili, who emphasized the importance of this guide in supporting journalists to address sexual and reproductive health issues with professionalism and responsibility, especially in light of the grave violations faced by Palestinian women during the war on Gaza and the aggression in the West Bank and Jerusalem.

Dr. Umaiyeh Khammash, Director General of Juzoor, thanked the partners for their collaboration, stressing that the guide serves as a practical tool for media professionals to contribute to the protection of rights and to promote sensitive coverage of women’s issues. Mr. Iyad Al-Araj, Programs Director at Oxfam, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to supporting joint efforts to strengthen professional media in rights-based issues. Dr. Osama Al-Mimi, Director of the Media Development Center, highlighted that the guide reflects the center’s dedication to building the capacities of journalists and equipping them with the knowledge that enables them to fulfill their mission responsibly.

The launch concluded with a reflective discussion session that served as a brainstorming platform to shed light on the role of institutions in supporting women in Gaza, the role of media in documentation and advocacy, as well as envisioning institutional plans for the recovery phase. The event witnessed notable attendance and strong engagement from journalists, reflecting their deep interest in the guide’s content and the professional opportunities it opens.
