A Youth Initiative at Birzeit University to Promote Mental Health and Raise Awareness of the Helpline
As part of its campaign to introduce its free mental health helpline, Juzoor for Health and Social Development organized a youth-led awareness and emotional relief initiative at Birzeit University. The initiative targeted 116 students from various disciplines, aiming to raise awareness about mental health and create a safe space for expressing emotions.
The initiative was led by students and graduates from Birzeit University who are members of Juzoor’s Youth Council “Young Juzoor”. They took the lead in organizing, coordinating, and inviting students to participate, in collaboration with the university’s Counseling Department, reinforcing the role of youth in leading impactful community activities.
The event featured an interactive artistic mural as the main space for expression, where students shared their feelings and experiences through drawings and words reflecting their emotions. It also included interactive games and questions related to mental health and emotions, which enhanced student engagement and participation. One of the key highlights of the event was introducing Juzoor’s free mental health helpline, a confidential and safe service providing psychosocial support through a specialized team, available at: 600-500-1800.
This initiative was implemented as part of the “Mental Health Matters” project, implemented by Juzoor in partnership with CARE Palestine, through the Belgian agency for international cooperation (Enabel), with the support from the Belgian government.
