Beit Fajjar Municipality delegation visits Juzoor to discuss cooperation in health and environment.
Juzoor for Health and Social Development hosted a delegation from Beit Fajjar Municipality, led by Mayor Mr. Samih Thawabteh and members of the municipal council, to discuss strengthening cooperation in health and environmental fields.
The discussion highlighted key challenges facing the town as an industrial hub with around 240 stone factories, including their impact on public health and the environment, and the need to improve occupational safety measures for workers.
The delegation also addressed the limited availability of health services, noting the absence of a hospital and the restricted operation of a primary healthcare center, which currently functions only one day per week.
Both sides explored opportunities for collaboration, including expanding the home visits program for pregnant and breastfeeding women and the elderly, organizing free health days with screenings for diabetes and breast cancer, and conducting trainings in first aid and occupational safety. They also discussed raising awareness on environmental and health risks linked to the stone industry.
Director General Umaiyeh Khammash thanked the delegation and reaffirmed Juzoor’s commitment to supporting underserved communities and strengthening partnerships that improve access to health, prevention, and occupational safety services in Beit Fajjar.
