Juzoor Calls on the International Community to Protect Civilians and Its Staff Amidst the Intense Bombing of Shelters in Northern Gaza

The Israeli occupation forces continue to launch heavy aerial and artillery strikes on areas in northern Gaza, specifically targeting Jabalia and its camp, Beit Lahia, and the northwest of Gaza City. Simultaneously, ground offensives are ongoing in several areas, including east of Jabalia, northwest of Beit Lahia, and northwest of Gaza City, further exacerbating the suffering of the population trapped in these areas.

Shelters managed by Juzoor have been directly targeted, resulting in critical injuries and the loss of life among residents, causing chaos and panic among the families living there. The safety of children, women, and the elderly who sought refuge in these shelters is at severe risk. The attacks have also extended to Juzoor’s medical points, which have been operating since the start of the war to provide essential medical support to displaced persons. The bombing has destroyed medical equipment, burned medications, and demolished the organization’s warehouses containing essential supplies and food items, significantly limiting the teams’ capacity to provide urgent medical services.

The continuous attacks have also severely injured several Juzoor staff members, who have been transferred to hospitals for urgent medical treatment. Additionally, the home of Dr. Yahya Abed, Juzoor’s Director in Gaza, was partially destroyed by shelling, forcing him and his family to evacuate and seek shelter in another location. As a result, the organization has restructured its operations based on the current locations of its teams to ensure services continue without the need for movement between sites, prioritizing their safety.

Juzoor’s team in northern Gaza has reported that hundreds of civilians and displaced persons are trapped in their homes, while movement in the streets is nearly impossible due to the ongoing shelling. Meanwhile, thousands have been forced to flee the area in search of safety amid escalating violence and the lack of safe spaces.

Juzoor urgently calls on the international community and humanitarian organizations to take immediate action to protect civilians and ensure the safety of shelters that have become direct targets of bombing—an outrageous violation of all international conventions and norms. The organization also urges the opening of safe corridors to allow for the evacuation of the wounded and displaced and to provide emergency medical aid, as the humanitarian crisis in northern Gaza continues to worsen. The urgent need now is to stop the successive attacks and protect innocent lives from the escalating catastrophe.
