This agreement aims to support and sustain the Palestinian Fellowship Program in Gastroenterology and Endoscopy and to strengthen its capacity in training specialized physicians in this vital field.

This collaboration aligns with the vision of Juzoor and the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development in investing in Palestinian healthcare professionals and enhancing the sustainability of specialized programs. It also contributes to localizing medical services within Palestine and reducing the need for external medical referrals, in line with the vision and strategy of the Palestinian Ministry of Health. The partnership seeks to build a new generation of specialized physicians capable of meeting the growing needs of patients and strengthening the capacity of the Palestinian healthcare system to deliver high-quality, sustainable services in accordance with the highest professional standards.

Dr. Umayieh Khammash, General Director of Juzoor, emphasized that this partnership represents a strategic step toward strengthening the Palestinian healthcare system by supporting the fellowship program, which is the first of its kind in Palestine. He noted that the program has successfully graduated specialized physicians over the past years who are now working across various governorates, contributing to improved access to gastroenterology and endoscopy services. He added: “Supporting and sustaining the Palestinian Fellowship Program in Gastroenterology and Endoscopy is a direct investment in national medical competencies and in the future of the Palestinian healthcare system. We believe that building the capacities of specialized physicians and providing advanced training opportunities within Palestine are essential pillars for improving the quality and sustainability of healthcare services.”

For his part, Dr. Hazem Al-Ashhab, Director of the Palestinian Fellowship Program in Gastroenterology and Endoscopy, affirmed that this partnership represents significant support for the program’s continued development and enables it to train specialized physicians according to the highest scientific and professional standards. He added: “This partnership contributes to strengthening the educational and training environment for fellows, which will positively reflect on the quality of healthcare services provided to patients and enhance the sustainability of specialized services within Palestine.”

Dr. Saeed Sarhanah, Medical Director of the Arab Specialized Hospital, expressed his pride in participating in this partnership, emphasizing that investing in specialized medical education is one of the key pillars for advancing the Palestinian health sector. He stated: “Supporting advanced clinical training for physicians directly contributes to improving the quality of healthcare services and enhancing the ability of medical institutions to respond to the growing needs of patients in line with best medical practices.”

Similarly, Dr. Yousef Al-Takrouri, General Director of Al-Ahli Hospital in Hebron, highlighted the importance of integration between healthcare and academic institutions in building qualified medical professionals. He noted that specialized fellowship programs are a cornerstone for developing national healthcare services, adding: “We consider this agreement a strategic step toward strengthening professional self-sufficiency and developing Palestinian medical competencies, ensuring the provision of more advanced and sustainable healthcare services for citizens.”

Under the Memorandum of Understanding, Juzoor will support, through the scholarship program funded by the Arab Fund, the training of a number of physicians enrolled in the fellowship program. This includes providing opportunities to participate in capacity-building and specialized training programs, as well as promoting scientific research, knowledge exchange, and academic and medical networking at both regional and international levels.

The partner institutions praised the leading role played by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development in supporting the Palestinian health sector and developing national medical competencies. They emphasized that investing in human capital is a fundamental pillar for building a healthcare system capable of responding to the increasing needs of citizens. They also expressed their appreciation to the Arab Fund for its continuous support of medical education and specialized training, which contributes to enhancing the sustainability and quality of healthcare services in Palestine.

Juzoor reaffirmed that this partnership aligns with its mission to develop Palestinian healthcare competencies, noting that investing in specialized medical education and capacity building is one of the most important pathways to ensuring sustainable healthcare services and providing advanced, high-quality care for the Palestinian community.
